Protective films made from bio-based raw materials
The perfect synergy of performance and resource conservation
Effectively protected with renewable raw materials
Bio-based films that match fossil alternatives in performance
POLIFILM PROTECTION offers several ways to incorporate renewable raw materials. What they all have in common is this: they involve no compromises – neither in terms of quality nor performance. For you, this means making an active contribution to environmental protection while continuing to rely fully on the mechanical properties and functionality you have come to expect from our conventional, fossil-based protective film solutions.
Zero fossil resources Bio-based feedstocks replace fossil resources in production
Reduced carbon footprint Alternative raw materials can reduce CO2 emissions in the value chain
Quality assured Bio-based raw materials offer the same high quality as using conventional materials
Never at the expense of food production
Direct or indirect use – it’s your choice
Direct use of renewable raw materials Films made from bio-based plastics, such as those derived from sugarcane residues – not at the expense of food production
Indirect use via mass balance approach ISCC Plus certified: films based on bio-circular solutions, using commercial kitchen fats derived from plant-based oils, such as rapeseed oil. Also, not at the expense of food production.

Bio-based polyethylene or ‘green PE’ is obtained from renewable raw materials such as corn or sugar cane. These bio raw materials have already absorbed carbon dioxide from the air during their growth. One tonne of Green PE binds three tonnes of CO2!
WHAT IS A MASS BALANCE?
The mass balance approach allows for the simultaneous processing of alternative and fossil-based raw materials. The quantity of sustainable raw materials is accounted for along the entire value chain, enabling their proportion in the finished protective film to be reported as a percentage.
